Our YouTube series, Confessions of a Time Monk, is produced by our Institute: The Institute for the Mythology of Humanity. Our series is currently science and consciousness focused:

One of our viewers suggested we “Look up the word MYTH.”

His advice points to our lack of a narrative bridge between the stated work of our Institute: To bring a core mythology of humanity that represents Global Consciousness back into the collective consciousness and our most visible communication, which is our YouTube series; where we interview accomplished scientists and researchers, who are working on the frontiers of consciousness.

We are well aware that we are missing the mark with our communication right now and so we appreciated this viewer’s short and succinct comment. It also seems worthwhile to share the body of my response to him here, as we suspect it may help others to better understand what we are endeavoring to share. So, thank you John S. for your comment and I hope you don’t mind that I republish my response here:

Hi John,

We believe we understand your advice to look up “myth.” What you may be reacting to is the lack of a narrative bridge, between the core work of our Institute and the scientific interviews that appear on our channel. If you had the time and the interest, this is an interview that I did as the co-founder of The Institute for the Mythology of Humanity, where the context and history of the work we are doing is explained.

These scientific interviews grew out of the advice of a woman called Jean Houston, http://www.jeanhouston.com/, who spent time with us in the StoryRoom, where we have been working on the development of a core mythology that represents global consciousness. Jean was the closest friend of Joseph Campbell, http://www.jcf.org/about-joseph-campbell/, whose work we imagine you are familiar with. The mythology that we shared with Jean, had been previously reserved in an esoteric archive. When she was exposed to this story, she said to us that she believed this could well be the mythology that “Joe” predicted would someday emerge and which would represent Global Consciousness.

This story is not linear, and it does not look at time as we have commonly come to think of time. Jean said to us that everything represented on the storywalls outlining this mythology was supported by current frontier science. She urged us to connect with physicists, cosmologists and researchers who are working on this frontier of science and consciousness.

So we did. On our journey with these researchers we began to record interviews so that we could share what we were being exposed to with others. In the end, all of this is in service to the creation of a foundation, where a bigger story of Humanity, a more cohesive “Mythology” of Humanity, will be able to be shared.

So, thank you for your advice to look up “myth.” It is word that is close to our hearts. There are definitions that consider Myth as a seed of truth and there are definitions that consider Myth as a gross misrepresentation of truth. In its purest form, we believe “story” or “myth” is at the foundation of human civilization and the stories we live from shape our reality from the level of the quantum on up.

My apologies for not responding to your post sooner.
Warm regards!
